Test smoke detector monthly.
To test your RV’s smoke detectors, follow these procedures:
For smoke detectors, use the test button on the device to verify the electronics are functioning. For a more thorough test, use a can of smoke specifically designed for testing smoke alarms, or waft the smoke from a wood match (after blowing it out) near the sensor. Test the smoke detector before each trip and at least once per month during use.
Always test all detectors after a storage period, before each trip, and at least once per week during use. If the detector fails a test or shows signs of malfunction, such as a persistent alarm that won’t clear, check the battery or replace the unit. Remember that the test button only verifies the electronics, not the sensor’s ability to detect gas, so physical testing with gas or smoke is essential
